Operators Benefit from
Improved Working Conditions
A Government Agency with 152 monitoring desks in 7 regional control rooms required a solution to reduce the number of monitors and keyboards on each desk. The objective was to improve the ergonomic working conditions of each operator and make the desk layout more flexible.
This was achieved by removing all the PC’s from the desk area and back racking them in the Comms Rooms and extending Video Keyboard, Mouse, Touch Screens and controllers out to each desk position.
Due to the complexity of the project AIT Consultant and Director Steve Bailey worked closely with a UK manufacturer to design a number of bespoke elements of the system.
Key considerations were to make the user experience simple and to ensure that excellent video quality was achieved across 100m of structured cabling. One of the systems monitored is a CCTV feed which had to be converted to VGA and switched across the system so video quality was paramount.
The solution has been rolled out to control centres across the country. AIT have provided all the services for the project including design, installation, training and support for the system with 24/7 4 hour response maintenance.
